How do I make these Ganja Granola Bars Healthy?

Everyone has a different version of “health” these days, but you could stir in mixed nuts, coconut, dried fruit and other “healthy” choices to keep them delicious without adding extra sugar or chocolate.

How do I make these Ganja Granola Bars Gluten Free?

Simply make sure you’re using gluten-free oats for your base, and you’ll have gluten free granola bars!

How do I make these Ganja Granola Bars Dairy Free and/or Vegan?

It’s easy to modify this recipe to make it dairy-free. Be sure to use your favorite dairy-free butter as a 1:1 substitute for the butter. (If you don’t have any dairy-free cannabutter, use the cannahoney option to add in your cannabis). You’ll also want to make sure that any add-ins you use are dairy free (like dairy-free chocolate chips).

Unfortunately because of the honey, you won’t be able to make these granola bars vegan.

What would be some good mix ins for these Ganja Granola Bars?

The sky is the limit on what you want to add into these granola bars. We recommend 3/4 cup TOTAL of extra add-ins, so (for example) that could be 1/4 cup of three different ingredients. Some options include:

  • Peanut Butter *See recipe notes*
  • Shredded coconut
  • Chopped almonds
  • Chopped pecans
  • Chopped cashews

  • 1/2 cup nuts roughly chopped (if omitting nuts, increase oatmeal by 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons CannaButter (use dairy-free CannaButter recipe if needed)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (use dairy-free butter if needed)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • OPTIONAL: 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 3/4 cups total extra mix ins

CannaHoney Version

  • 2 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats (use gluten free if needed)
  • 1/2 cup nuts roughly chopped (if omitting nuts, increase oatmeal by 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup CannaHoney
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (use dairy-free butter if needed)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • OPTIONAL: 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 3/4 cups total extra mix ins

Instructions

  1. OPTIONAL: Place the oats and nuts on a rimmed baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes in a 350 degree oven (until lightly toasted). This will give your granola bars more of a cookie taste, but it is optional.
  2. Spray a 9-inch square baking dish with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
  3. Place nuts and oats in a large bowl.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine honey (or CannaHoney), butter (and/or CannaButter) and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat until the butter is melted, and the sugar is fully dissolved. Stir occasionally.
  5. When butter mixture is finished, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. **If adding peanut butter, add 1/4 cup peanut butter to this mixture.
  6. Pour mixture over the oats and nuts and stir to combine.
  7. Add mix-in ingredients (except for chocolate) and stir until all oats are covered.
  8. If adding chocolate, wait 10 minutes for mixture to cool down before adding.
  9. Place mixture in the prepared pan. Use the bottom of a greased measuring cup or spoon to press the mixture into the pan.
  10. Place the granola bars in the fridge for at least 2 hours. (Overnight is even better!)
  11. Lift the bars from the pan and place them on a cutting board. Cut into 16 equal pieces. Click here to read our dosing guidelines for this recipe.
