    👩🏻‍🍳 BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

If you’re new to cooking with cannabis, you’ll want to learn more about getting started. It’s not hard to cook with cannabis, but there are a few things you’ll need to understand first. For this recipe, you’ll need to know:

    • How to Decarb your Weed

    📋INGREDIENTS

    • Oil or Butter - you can use the oil of your choice (like olive oil, vegetable oil, MCT oil or coconut oil). You can also use salted butter, unsalted butter or even dairy-free butter.
    • Decarbed weed - you can choose the strain of your choice.
    • Water
    • At least one 32 ounce mason jar with a lid. (You'll need one mason jar for each infusion.)

See recipe card for exact quantities.

    🔪 INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these simple steps for this easy instant pot cannabis infusion recipe.

    1. Pour water into instant pot.
    2. Place decarbed weed into mason jar and add butter or oil.
    3. Place the lid on the mason jar (do not overtighten the lid).
    4. Set the Instant pot to slow cook, low, four hours.
    5. When finished, carefully remove the mason jar from the instant pot and unscrew the lid.
    6. Pour the mixture into a french press and strain.
    7. Pour infusion into an airtight container and store appropriately.

    📖 VARIATIONS

There are a couple variations for this recipe:

    • Make more than one infusion!- Want to make CannaButter AND Canna Oil? Use two mason jars and cook them at the same time. In one mason jar, combine your decarbed weed and butter. In the other mason jar, combine your decarbed weed and oil. Cook together and strain and store separately.
    • Make one infusion with different cannabis strains - Want to make a sativa CannaButter and an Indica CannaButter? You can! Simply use two different mason jars. Place butter or oil in both mason jars and use your sativa in one and indica in the other. Cook them together and strain and store separately.

    💭 TOP TIPS

    • Do not overtighten the mason jar lid!
    • Investing in a french press will make all the difference and allow you to squeeze as much of your infusion as possible out of your mixture! (We like this one).
    • Don't forget to decarb your weed before starting the infusion process!

    🍽 SERVING SIZE + DOSING

This recipe makes 1 cup of Cannabis Butter or Oil

Dosage: Approximately 175 mg THC per ounce, or 87.5 mg per Tablespoon. Dosage determined using marijuana with 10% THC.

Use our dosing calculator to determine exact dosage if necessary.

Want to make this recipe MORE potent? Here are a few options:

    • Use a stronger strain of marijuana when making your infusion.
    • Use MORE decarbed weed when making your Canna Oil.
    • Decrease the amount of butter or oil you start with (this will give you less than one cup of finished product).

Want to make this recipe LESS potent? Here are a few options:

    • Use more butter or oil in the infusion.
    • Use a weaker strain of marijuana when making your infusion.
    • Use LESS decarbed weed when making your infusion.

    🥘FREEZING AND STORAGE

    STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

OILS: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to six months.

BUTTERS: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one month and in the freezer for up to six months.

    📋 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to decarb my weed first?

Yes! In order to get the maximum benefit and amount of THC in your infusions, it is critical that you decarb your weed FIRST. Otherwise, you're wasting your weed and money.

Can I use this method to make Cannabis MCT Oil?

Yes! You can make Cannabis MCT Oil in the crockpot, or you can follow these instructions to make it in an instant pot.

Is there a reason to use the instant pot instead of a crockpot?

The main benefit of using an instant pot is having the ability to make multiple infusions in one batch. In the crockpot, you are unable to do this. Other than that, there is no benefit.
