How to Make Easy Pot Brownies Using Brownie Mix

June 2, 2020 by Cannabis Spatula 34 Comments

Are you looking for the easiest and most convenient pot brownie recipe ever made? Do you want your marijuana brownies to be delicious, moist and also get you high? Do you like your cannabis mixed with chocolate and called a brownie? If this describes you, then today is your lucky day! These weed brownies are made using a box of brownie mix. It really doesn't get much easier than that!

Made with Cannabis Oil (Canna Oil), these pot brownies will taste almost exactly like your favorite Betty Crocker brownies - with a twist. The edge pieces will be crisp, the inside pieces will be soft and moist, and every piece will help you slip into a delightfully, chill high. Even better, you won't have to work very hard to get there.

Take your box of brownie mix to a whole new level with this recipe.

    BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

If you’re new to cooking with cannabis, you’ll want to learn more about getting started. It’s not hard to cook with cannabis, but there are a few things you’ll need to understand first. For this recipe, you’ll need to know:

    • How to Decarb your Weed
    • How to Make Canna Oil (you'll need to use a Vegetable or Coconut oil for this recipe)
    • Our dosing guidelines (how much you’ll want to eat to find your perfect high). This recipe makes one serving.

How to make Easy Pot Brownies Using a Box of Brownie Mix

Are you ready for how easy this recipe is going to be? First, you'll need to buy a box of brownie mix. Look for a box that calls for oil as an ingredient. (This is a necessary ingredient in the majority of boxes of brownie mix).

Now the hard part is over.

Yes. Buying the brownie mix is the hard part.

Follow the instructions on the box to make your brownies. Replace ¼ cup of the oil with Canna Oil.

    Bake according to package instructions.

Slice into 12 pieces and enjoy!

    See how easy that is?

HOW HIGH WILL I GET WHEN I EAT THESE POT BROWNIES?

You can read all of our dosing guidelines here. This recipe makes 12 strong servings (when made with our Canna Oil recipe). Assuming you're using a marijuana with 10% THC, the brownies in this recipe will contain approximately 23 mg of THC per serving.

CAN THIS RECIPE BE MADE GLUTEN FREE AND/OR DAIRY FREE?

It sure can! Just find a gluten free box of brownie mix. Yum!

What do Pot Brownies taste like?

They taste like brownies. You may be able to taste the marijuana, but it will be a very mild taste - overpowered by chocolate.

Shrandal, if you don't mind making butter instead of oil, the Kodiak Cakes brand uses a whole stick

Yes - you should be able to do that no problem. You can also look for a brownie mix that calls for oil as a mix in instead of butter.

Should you melted it first down if using butter as a substitute?

I probably would. Or you can find a brownie mix that uses butter instead of oil.

Can you leave the cannabis oil unstrained? I mean, is it bad or harmful to eat the leaves of marijuana instead of straining them out?
Also, what do you do with the strained out leaves?

There's not really any use to the strained out leaves. The THC has been removed, so you can throw them out or compost them. It is not harmful to eat the leaves of the marijuana, but your edibles will taste so much better if you strain it out. Hope that's helpful!

If my recipe for your brownies called for a half a cup and your recipe called for 1/4 cup what should I use with weed.

Not sure if I fully understand the question. Do you mean that your brownies calls for 1/2 cup of oil? If so, just replace 1/4 cup with Canna Oil. So it would be 1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup Canna Oil. Does that answer your question?

I’m really wanting to try these! But we like our edibles very strong….if a brownie recipe calls for 1/2 cup or 1/4 cup oil/butter, can we not use ALL canna-butter or canna oil, is there a reason why we have to use use regular oil too?

You can absolutely substitute as much or as little of the oil/butter as you want. If you like it potent - go for it!

I usually make make canna peanut oil and mix that with some regular peanut butter. It works a treat. Can I substitute in my peanut butter for the oil or egg?
Oh and I bake on my BBQ so my family doesn't have to smell it 🙂

Definitely give it a try and let us know! It will obviously add a PB taste, but it sounds delicious! Great idea to bake on the BBQ. 🙂

You do need to decarb your weed! You'll want to follow our recipe to make CannaButter. It will be super potent with your dro, so be sure to use our dosage calculator to help find your dosage amount. Good luck!

Done all my math and have decarbed enough to make 1/4 cup of butter as I could not find a mix that used oil. Butter is in the slow cooker as I type this. Can’t wait to try this out. No one I know here in Oz decarbonise before making butter so got a couple of mates that can’t wait to try. Using good old fashioned bush. Thanks for all the tips and tricks

Hello! I started with 3 boxes of the same brownie mix. I followed your instructions for first batch which turned out great. I couldn’t taste anything except Chocolate. Thanks, I had no idea of where to start for dosage. On second batch, I doubled amount of infused oil. For ME, WOW! Chocolate taste still strong but infused oil was detectable but weak. I ate 2 brownies, about 45 minutes later I was on the roof of the house dancing naked! That’s all I remember from that day. I made mix 3 with 1 1/2 recommended amount of oil and they were perfect, no oil taste and I didn’t get too WILD! Thanks again!

I don’t have a crock pot or slow cooker. Is there a way to make the oil or butter without it? Also, does the butter recipe work with vegan butter as well?

Yes - you can use a pot on the stove - just be sure to keep the temp very low and go slow! And this absolutely works with vegan butter as well. Yum!
